Protective styles need to be able to go the distance, in order to be effective, give your own hair a rest, and allow it to reach its optimal health and growth potential. So here are a couple of simple tips that you can use to get the most out of your protective Havana Twist Hairstyle. 1. When your hair is in a protective style, be sure not to neglect it. It needs to be regularly cleansed, or co-washed, moisturized, and oiled. 2. Havana Twists are quick and easy to put in, and they are just as quick and easy to take out, but you may want to get a little extra mileage out of your twists by just removing them from the sides and the back, during your take-down, and leaving the twists in the top for another few days, to a week. You can then use the twists that you left in to create a cute high bun, or an up-sweep-do, like the one pictured. 3. In the photo above, 10 week old twists, that had been regularly co-washed and conditioned, were undone in the back, and on the sides. The hair was then gathered in the back, and pinned into a twist. The remaining Havana Twists were then arranged, pompadour style, and pinned in place. Hope you like! |
